KB
Also known as:
kilobyte
A unit of measurement for computer memory. 1 Kilobyte, or 1 KB consists of exactly 1024 bytes. 1024 = 210. This is sometimes confused with Kb which means Kilobit, or 1024 bits. Since 1 byte = 8 bits, 1 Kb (Kilobit) = 128 bytes. 1 KB can store 1024 characters of plain text, or about a medium-sized paragraph.
Kbps
Also known as:
kilobits per second
1 Kilobit per second (Kbps) is equivalent to 1024 bits per second or 128 bytes per second. Kbps is often used instead of KBps because the numbers look bigger. A 56K modem can operate at rates up to 56 Kbps, but this is only 7 KBps.
